Gun Violence Prevention

Gun violence is an epidemic that continues to plague our country. No one should experience violence in their communities – at grocery stores, houses of worship, community events – and especially not at schools. Our children deserve to feel safe at school, and parents should be able to send their kids to school without the fear of gun violence.

I am committed to seeking common-sense solutions to put an end to these senseless acts of violence. I joined the Gun Violence Prevention Task Force because it is our responsibility as Members of Congress to protect our communities. I am also a proud cosponsor of the Bipartisan Assault Weapons Ban of 2023, which would reinstate the Federal Assault Weapons Ban, which was successful in lowering gun crimes when it was active from 1994 – 2004. Additionally, I have co-sponsored legislation that would combat ghost guns, declare gun violence a public health crisis, and bolster background checks on firearms purchasers.

I will fight in Congress for safer communities in our nation and will not stand for partisan politics over human lives.
