Right now, the Trump Administration is sowing chaos and tearing families apart across the country. As the proud grandson of Cuban refugees, I will continue to stand up for all of our neighbors, conduct legal oversight of detention facilities, and fight back against this Administration’s attempts to undermine the rights of everyone who calls this country home.
We must develop real, longstanding solutions for the challenges that plague America’s broken immigration system, including a pathway to citizenship, fair immigration laws, robust asylum protections, closing private detention centers, and expanded capacity to address our national immigration court backlog.
As Vice Chair for Policy for the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, I am focused on protecting our immigrant communities and enacting border security policies that are humane, effective, and reflective of our values as a nation.
