Immigration

New Jersey’s Eighth Congressional District has a proud immigrant history, and our communities are proof that America’s strength comes from its diversity. As the grandson of Cuban refugees, I am fighting for immigrant families in our district and across the country. I believe that we must move past partisan rhetoric and showmanship to develop real, longstanding solutions for the challenges that plague America’s broken immigration system, including a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants, fair immigration laws, robust asylum protections, and expanded capacity to address our national immigration court backlog. As a Member of the House Committee on Homeland Security and Co-Chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus’ Immigration Task Force, I am also working to enact border security policies that are humane, effective, and reflective of our values as a nation.
