Working Families

Our working families deserve a workplace that is safe, dignified, and provides quality pay and benefits. While costs have gone up for many Americans, wages have not kept pace.

For generations, unions have provided a pathway to the middle class for working families across America. Since the early 1980s, unionization rates have fallen by almost half while anti-worker efforts such as “right to work” laws and union busting have been on the rise.

As a proud Member of the Labor Caucus, I am committed to finding solutions that support the middle-class and all working families. In the 118th Congress, I introduced the Working Families Task Force Act, which will bring together officials from across the federal government to work on solutions for the issues impacting working families, including affordability, access to child care, and wage growth.

I am proud to be an original co-sponsor of the Richard L. Trumka Protecting the Right to Organize Act, which will strengthen organized labor and provide 21st century tools that unions need to give workers the wages and rights they deserve, as well as the Raise the Wage Act, which will provide for increases to the Federal minimum wage. I will always fight for working families and I am proud to stand with our friends and family in organized labor.
