Internships

Congressman Rob Menendez (NJ-08) seeks interns for his Washington, D.C. and Jersey City Offices for Summer 2026. Applicants should be undergraduate students, recent graduates, graduate students, or post-secondary graduates with an interest in public service.

Interns in the Washington, DC Office assist with front desk operations, including greeting guests and constituents, answering the phone, and processing other inquiries. Additionally, interns assist staff with communications and legislative work through attending briefings and hearings, researching legislative topics, compiling press clips, and various communications tasks.

Interns in the Jersey City Office assist with front desk operations, including greeting guests and constituents, answering the phone, and constituent services. Additionally, interns assist staff with casework, attend outreach events, research local resources for constituents, enter data, and complete other tasks as necessary. New Jersey ties are preferred but not required, and having Spanish language fluency is a plus.

Ideal candidates are self-starters who are dependable with excellent writing and organizational skills. Start and end dates are flexible, and the internship will run from May through August.

Our Office will consider both full-time and part-time applicants. Our deadline is Wednesday, April 1, 2026.

Our Office is an equal-opportunity employer, and we do not discriminate on the basis of race, sex, color, age, religion, disability, national origin, military status, sexual orientation, or gender identity or expression. Special consideration will be given to candidates with New Jersey ties and to those from backgrounds that are traditionally underrepresented in Congress.

To apply, fill out the application below. In addition to the online application, please send a resume and cover letter in one PDF to NJ08internships@mail.house.gov. Please format the subject line as Full name, Summer 2026, and your office preference (DC, NJ). Please indicate your availability in your cover letter.

If you have any questions about the District Office internship program, please call (201) 309-0301 and ask to speak to the District internship coordinator. If you have any questions about the Washington D.C. internship program, please call (202) 225-7919 and ask to speak to the D.C. internship coordinator.
