House Committee on Homeland Security Unanimously Passes Menendez Cybersecurity Bill
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Yesterday, the House Committee on Homeland Security unanimously passed Congressman Rob Menendez’s (NJ-08) bill, H.R. 9762, the DHS International Cyber Partnership Act. The bill enhances the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) ability to engage with U.S. allies to advance shared cybersecurity goals. “International cybersecurity threats are on the rise, threatening our infrastructure and our economy,” said Congressman Rob Menendez. “With this legislation, we are empowering DHS and CISA to partner with our allies across the globe to identify potential threats and collaborate on the technology and solutions that protect us against them. I am grateful to my colleagues on the Committee and hope that this important legislation will quickly be brought to the House floor.” By providing the Secretaries of DHS and CISA with authority to provide equipment, services, technical assistance, and expertise to international partners, the bill continues to strengthen the United States’ position as a leader on international cybersecurity cooperation. Congressman Menendez proudly serves on the House Committee on Homeland Security, where he advocates for resources that build resiliency and protect critical community resources from threats including cyber-attacks and terrorism. |
