Congressman Rob Menendez Applauds $25 Million Federal Grant Announcement for Gateway Program
U.S. Department of Transportation RAISE Grant Award will go to New Jersey’s Eighth Congressional District
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Rob Menendez today released the following statement on the United States Department of Transportation’s RAISE grant award of $25,000,000 in Bipartisan Infrastructure Law funding for the Tonnelle Avenue Bridge and Utility Relocation Project. The project will enable further progress on the new Hudson River Tunnel – a key component of the Gateway Program – through utility relocation and the construction of a road bridge to carry Tonnelle Avenue over a new railroad right-of-way for the tunnel.
“This announcement of $25,000,000 in Bipartisan Infrastructure Law funding for the further development of the Gateway Program is great news for the Eighth Congressional District. Under the leadership of New Jersey’s Congressional Delegation and the Biden Administration, progress is accelerating on the largest critical infrastructure project in the United States. I look forward to continuing our work to support this transformative investment in our residents, commuters, and workers.”
