VIDEO: Congressman Rob Menendez on President Biden's 2024 State of the Union Address

March 7, 2024

Transcript:

President Biden just concluded his 2024 State of the Union Address – a visionary speech that highlighted the progress he has made with House Democrats for working families across America while outlining the work that remains.

The President spoke about the story of our country, a story of progress, possibilities, and resilience.

And he showed a clear contrast between his and the Democrats forward-thinking vision for our country and Trump and the Republicans’ plans to roll back so much of the progress that has been made.

I know that President Biden’s vision is the one that resonates with New Jersey’s Eighth Congressional District and our values.

And I believe in his and House Democrats’ work on investing in infrastructure, healthcare, and education and restoring reproductive rights—issues that directly impact our communities.

President Biden's commitment to building an economy from the middle out and the bottom up aligns with our efforts to prioritize the needs of working families, including the first bill I introduced, the Working Families Task Force Act.

The President and House Democrats believe in the American people, in the people of the Eighth Congressional District, and that united we can continue to achieve great things while working together to address the challenges facing our country and our world.

Whether those challenges are affordability, access to reproductive rights, fighting gun violence, or ensuring our allies abroad have the support they need – the President sent a clear message to the American people that he is committed to addressing them.

To be clear, there is still work to be done.

We must continue advocating for policies that support working families, ensuring access to affordable healthcare, education, and economic opportunities for everyone.

We must fight back against attempts to damage our democracy.

We must protect reproductive rights and access to reproductive care.

We must continue to address the gun violence plaguing communities across our country.

And that is exactly what the President and House Democrats will do.

I stand behind the vision that President Biden communicated tonight and I look forward to continuing our work together.
