Statement by Congressman Rob Menendez on Vote to Keep Federal Government Open
WASHINGTON, D.C. - After his vote for a 45-day continuing resolution to keep the federal government open, Congressman Menendez released the following statement:
“Today, I voted alongside House Democrats to keep our federal government open for every single resident of the Eighth Congressional District and this country, ensuring that our constituents have the government services they deserve and often rely on.
“House Democrats kept the government fully funded on our own terms without draconian spending cuts to essential programs or including parts of the House Republicans’ extreme and punitive border bill. This is a victory for House Democrats and most importantly, for the American people.
“Additionally, I remain fully supportive of Ukrainian aid to ensure Ukraine has the resources it needs to protect its sovereignty.
“In the coming weeks, I will continue working in Congress to pass a responsible bill that fully funds our government through the remainder of the fiscal year so that we can fight to address the real issues that are affecting working families across this nation.”
