Statement by Congressman Rob Menendez on Hispanic Heritage Month
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressmen Rob Menendez today issued the following statement on Hispanic Heritage Month:
“Hispanic Heritage Month is a time for us to come together as a community and reflect on our rich history and remarkable achievements. In the Eighth Congressional District, where diversity thrives with people from all corners of the globe, we take this opportunity to not only honor our past but also to look forward to the bright future we are shaping for the next generations.
“In my own family, my grandparents made the sacrifice of leaving the only life they knew in Cuba and started again in Union City, New Jersey. In our district, we see the same resilience and determination among our diverse Hispanic community. Just as my grandparents made sacrifices for the sake of their family, we see countless individuals and families making every effort to give their children and grandchildren their shot at the American Dream.
“As we receive a new generation of immigrants into the country, it is important to recognize the many achievements and contributions that our Hispanic family members, neighbors, and community members have made to our district, the State of New Jersey, and the United States. I look forward to sharing their stories and highlighting their contributions throughout this month.”
