Menendez Statement on Senator Alex Padilla

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congressman Rob Menendez (NJ-08) released the following statement following the violent removal and handcuffing of Senator Alex Padilla:

“Violently throwing a Senator to the ground and handcuffing him for doing his job is an unprecedented escalation of this Administration’s assault on our democracy. Since the incident at Delaney Hall, the Trump Administration has sought to intimidate elected officials, silence opposition, and instill fear in all of us who stand opposed to their harmful agenda.

“But we will not be silent, and we will hold this Administration accountable. We will continue to stand up for those we represent, we will continue to call out the harm being caused by Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress, and we will continue the fight to defend our democracy.”
