Congressman Rob Menendez Joins Leaders from New Jersey and New York in Historic Announcement for the Hudson Tunnel Project
JERSEY CITY, NJ – Today, Congressman Rob Menendez proudly joined Senators Chuck Schumer (D-NY), Cory Booker (D-NJ), and other leaders from across New Jersey and New York to announce a major milestone for the Hudson Tunnel Project. The Gateway Development Commission (GDC) has finalized a Full-Funding Grant Agreement (FFGA) with the Federal Transit Administration (FTA), securing $6.88 billion in federal funding for the critical infrastructure project.
“This is a historic moment and a testament to our commitment to completing the Hudson Tunnel Project,” said Congressman Rob Menendez. “This is not just the largest federal investment ever in a mass transit project but a reflection of our unwavering dedication to investing in our critical infrastructure while improving the daily commutes of millions in the 8th District, New Jersey, and beyond. Today is a great day, but the work continues, and we will remain steadfast in our support of this project until it is completed.”
The FFGA signed today represents a commitment from the FTA to provide $6.88 billion for the Hudson Tunnel Project through the New Starts Capital Investment Grant (CIG) Program. This is the largest grant in the history of the CIG Program and the largest single funding source for the Hudson Tunnel Project.
Congressman Rob Menendez is a Member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.
