March 29, 2023

NEW YORK, NY – On Monday, March 27, 2023, Congressman Rob Menendez concluded his trip to United Nations (UN) Headquarters in New York City as a part of a bipartisan congressional delegation. The trip, organized by the UN Foundation, served as an opportunity for Congressman Menendez and his colleagues to hear directly from high-ranking U.S. and UN officials on issues of global importance.

 “With 44% of our district residents born outside of the United States, many with family still abroad, our nation has a responsibility to lead on the world stage,” said Congressman Menendez. “This delegation was a valuable opportunity to be briefed on the important work that the United Nations is doing to support global security and peacekeeping efforts in war-torn regions of the world. It was an honor to meet with the Biden Administration’s stellar team at the UN, who have been committed to backing our allies, including Ukraine, as well as providing humanitarian aid across the world.”

Congressman Menendez met with the following officials:

  • UN Secretary-General António Guterres;
  • U.S. Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield;
  • U.S. Ambassador to the UN for Management and Reform Christopher Lu;
  • UNICEF Deputy Director Hannan Sulieman;
  • UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Martin Griffiths;
  • UN Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs Rosemary DiCarlo;
  • UN Assistant Secretary-General for General Assembly and Conference Management Cherith Norman Chalet; and
