August 29, 2024

JERSEY CITY, N.J. - Today, Congressman Rob Menendez (NJ-08) applauded $6.78 million in security grant funding provided by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to organizations and communities throughout New Jersey’s 8th District.

The funding is provided by the Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP), the Intercity Bus Security Grant Program (IBSGP), and the Port Security Grant Program (PSGP). These programs focus on facility hardening, physical security enhancements, and infrastructure designed to protect against terrorist or extremist attacks.

11 non-profits and local governments in the 8th District, many at high-risk of extremist and terrorist attacks or political violence, received funding totaling $6,781,491.

“At a time when political violence, extremism, and terroristic threats are on the rise globally, it’s crucial that we support the organizations in our communities that are at the highest risk,” said Congressman Rob Menendez. “These non-profits and agencies are pillars of our communities, and with the help of this funding from FEMA, we can ensure that they have the support and resources they need to safely continue their important work.”

Congressman Menendez proudly serves on the House Committee on Homeland Security and the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, where he advocates for resources that build resiliency and protect critical community resources from threats including terrorism and extremism as well as climate change and underinvestment.
