Congressman Rob Menendez Announces Nearly $50 Million in Capital Fund Program Grants to Nine New Jersey Housing Authorities

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Rob Menendez announced that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has awarded $49,995,966 to nine housing authorities in New Jersey’s Eighth District. The grants are provided through HUD’s Capital Fund Program, which offers funding to build, renovate, and modernize public housing. 

“I am thrilled to see these much-needed funds awarded to the Housing Authorities in New Jersey’s Eighth Congressional District,” said Congressman Menendez. “This investment will enable us to address the critical needs within our public housing developments, ensuring that our constituents have access to safe, comfortable, and sustainable living environments.”

The following grantees are receiving funding through HUD’s Capital Fund Program, which awarded $3.17 billion in Public Housing Repair funding to 2,756 public housing authorities (PHAs) in all 50 states, including the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Bayonne Housing Authority – $4,103,508 

Elizabeth Housing Authority – $4,491787

Guttenberg Housing Authority – $883,113

Harrison Housing Authority – $1,027,821

Hoboken Housing Authority – $4,404,158

Housing Authority of Jersey City – $7,825,298 

Newark Housing Authority – $22,758,601

North Bergen Housing Authority – $2,943,169 

Union City Housing Authority –  $1,558,511
