Congressman Rob Menendez Highlights Over $4.8 Million in Federal Environmental Justice Funding
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Rob Menendez today highlighted over $4.8 million in United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) environmental justice grants for local non-profits and government entities in New Jersey’s Eighth Congressional District.
“This announcement of over $4.8 million in Environmental Justice grants is a significant commitment to the health and well-being of the residents of New Jersey’s Eighth Congressional District,” said Congressman Menendez. “I am grateful to work with the Biden Administration to support our dedicated non-profits and government partners so communities that have for far too long been burdened with the effects of pollution and climate change receive the relief and assistance they deserve.”
Two grantees are receiving funding through the Environmental Justice Collaborative Problem Solving (EJCPS) Program, which provides financial assistance to eligible organizations working to address local environmental or public health issues in their communities. These grantees are:
Ironbound Community Corporation - $327,900
New Jersey Environmental Justice Alliance - $500,000
Four grantees are receiving funding through the Environmental Justice Government-to-Government (EJG2G) Program, which provides funding at the state, local, territorial, and Tribal level to support government activities in partnership with community-based organizations that lead to measurable environmental or public health impacts in communities disproportionately burdened by environmental harms. These grantees are:
Hudson County - $1,000,000
Newark - $1,000,000
Jersey City - $1,000,000
New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection - $1,000,000
