Congressman Rob Menendez Recognizes Hispanic Heritage Month
JERSEY CITY, NJ – Today, Congressman Rob Menendez issued the following statement on Hispanic Heritage Month:
“I am proud to join the nation in celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month. This month is the time to acknowledge the profound contributions the Hispanic community has made to our country's history, culture, and progress for future generations.
“In New Jersey’s Eighth Congressional District, our Hispanic and Latino neighbors embody dedication, resilience, and creativity. Their contributions have been and continue to be integral to the strength and vitality of our community and nation as a whole.
“My grandparents’ story — leaving Cuba in search of a better life — is one that is familiar to so many Hispanic families. Because of this courage and tenacity, generations of immigrants are living lives full of opportunity, benefiting us all. Hispanic Heritage Month celebrates these contributions and serves as a reminder of the work still ahead.
“As a Member of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, I am committed to uplifting our Hispanic community through legislation that empowers working families with affordable childcare and housing and by advocating for comprehensive immigration reform that ensures fair treatment, provides a path to citizenship, and strengthens the opportunities available to all immigrant families."
